MICHIGAN MEDICINE EXPANSION OVERVIEW
Michigan Medicine, the University of Michigan’s renowned academic medical center, is growing. The expanded services mean growing career opportunities – over 1,935 new positions, from medical assistants and radiology technicians to nurses and administrative support.
In October 2019, Michigan Medicine began building a new, state-of-the-art hospital, but the project was paused in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Michigan communities continue to receive the COVID-19 vaccinations and we see a potential end to the pandemic, Michigan Medicine has now received approval to restart the construction on this project.
This expansion will allow us to grow, expand ICU care, and provide the best care through innovative care delivery, research and mentoring.
Join our team and embark on a rewarding and meaningful career at one of the nation’s leading health systems.
NEW Adult Inpatient Tower
(Opening Fall 2025)
The new 12-story hospital will house 264 private rooms capable of converting to intensive care, a state-of-the-art neurological and neurosurgical center, high-level, specialty care services for cardiovascular and thoracic patients, along with advanced imaging. Locating these services together will enable healthcare providers to quickly respond to complex cases and deliver state-of-the-art treatments.
“We are proud to be at the forefront of innovation with a new hospital that will support the extraordinary work of our faculty, nurses and other providers and our research community,” said Marschall Runge, M.D., Ph.D., the executive vice president of medical affairs for U-M, CEO of Michigan Medicine and dean of the Medical School. “It’s an investment in Michigan Medicine’s mission of advancing health to serve Michigan and the world.”
