Clinical Social Workers
Provide support, education and counseling to patients and families about a wide variety of issues or concerns related to illness and treatment. Social Workers provide long and short term therapy in our mental health programs, and in many clinical areas lead support and education groups for patients and families, both inpatient and outpatient.
Specific areas of support offered by Social Workers may include adjustment to illness, caregiver needs, long-term discharge planning, housing concerns, Advance Directive issues, resources related to diagnosis, bereavement, domestic violence/sexual assault, and identification and referral to community resources.
In addition, our Guest Assistance Office provides services to support families while patients are receiving care. These include referrals and education related to insurance and income maintenance, as well as tangible assistance such as lodging, meals and transportation. Our department staff also serves the community, participating in events and giving lectures and presentations to various groups. Staff members also are encouraged to participate in national and state professional organizations.
